Liverpool’s Adam Lallana has revealed that he is expecting to get booed by his former fans, but will be taking it as a positive sign, according to reports from Daily Star.
The 26-year-old was one of the many players who left the Saints to join another Premier League club at the end of last season, and the supporters are sure to voice their anger when he returns to St Mary’s Stadium this weekend.
Despite completing a £25million move to Anfield in the summer, Lallana admitted that he never forced a club exit, but decided to move because he believed it was in his best interest.
“I’m man enough to say it was my choice and my decision for me to move on,” he said.
“Deep down I hope Saints fans appreciate the times we had at the club together.
“Football is a fickle game – if I do get the jeers and the boos I’m just going to take it as them missing me playing down there because I miss Southampton.”
Although the Reds have struggled in the early stages of the Premier League, they are now on course to battle for a top four finish.
They are currently in seventh place with 42 points, only four behind their upcoming opponents who sit in fourth.
