Liverpool star Jordan Henderson is set to extend his contract by signing a deal worth £100,000-a-week this week, according to reports from the Daily Star.
Henderson’s contract expires in the summer of 2016, but it is now believed that the England international has agreed to stay at the club until 2020 following an improved offer.
This will come as a big boost for Kop manager Brendan Rodgers after the Reds’ exit from the FA Cup following a 2-1 loss against Aston Villa during the weekend and Raheem Sterling’s ongoing contract dispute.
With the departure of Steven Gerrard to MLS club LA Galaxy at the end of the season, Henderson is expected to be named the club’s new captain in the summer.
The 24-year-old arrived from Sunderland for £16million back in 2011 and has become an integral part of Rodgers’ Liverpool setup.
Henderson has featured in 47 games for the Reds this season, scoring seven goals and supplying 14 assists.
