Liverpool star vows to be fit for World Cup opener

Liverpool and Uruguay striker Luis Suarez has claimed that he will be fit for the World Cup next month, as reported by the Evening Standard.

The Premier League player of the year suffered a knee injury last week and has undergone surgery to try and speed up his recovery.

Uruguay face England in their second World Cup group game and Roy Hodgson and co will be hoping that Suarez is not fit enough to torment the Three Lions’ defence.

However the controversial 27 year old has vowed to be fit in time for the tournament in his native South America and wants to repay the faith shown in him by supporters.

“My dream remains intact. I will be there,” Suarez tweeted.

“Thank you very much for the messages of support, love and encouragement throughout the day!

“The strength that my loved ones give me will make me work hard to reach the World Cup.”
