Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has rejected the chance to leave Liverpool and join Al Ahli with manager Cosmin Olaroiu confirming that talks were already under way, Express reports.
The 24-year-old has been struggling to perform ever since his £16million move from AC Milan last summer and is now being labelled as a flop.
His entire career has been halted following his goal drought which saw him score only one goal from a total of 16 Premier League appearances.
Olaroiu revealed that he was keen on bringing the former Manchester City man to his club and was even in contact with his agent Mino Raiola over a transfer, but was turned down in their efforts.
“We thought about Balotelli and we even had a discussion with his agent Mino Raiola,” he said.
“But Balotelli turned down our proposal because he wants to play for another.”
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers earlier revealed that Balotelli’s future depends on his performance during the upcoming campaign, but he is likely to be limited to very little playing time.
The club have already reinforced their frontline ahead of the new campaign with the signing of Danny Ings and Christian Benteke, pushing the Italian further down the pecking order.
