Liverpool are believed to have made a £50million offer to sign Karim Benzema from Real Madrid, a player that Arsenal have been tracking over the past few seasons, Daily Star reports.
The 27-year-old striker is continuously being linked with a Bernabeu exit, alerting a host of top European sides to consider a potential move to sign him from the La Liga.
However, speculation out of Spain suggest that Brendan Rodgers’ struggling side have already tabled a huge bid to lure him to Anfield, putting them in pole position to snap up Arsene Wenger’s long term transfer target.
Benzema is considered a world class striker, having netted 125 goals in 259 appearances for Madrid and is part of the deadly attacking trio completed by Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
Despite the fact that the Anfield side have placed an offer, the French attacker is believed to still be keen on continuing his career with the Champions League winners given the fact that he only extended his stay back in August.
