Liverpool target eyeing up Bundesliga stay

Liverpool target Jonas Hector is set to sign a new deal to stay at Köln, reports German media Kicker.

The Reds have been linked with the German international all summer, and rumours increased during Euro 2016, as the 26-year-old put in strong performances for the national team, playing in all 6 of Germany’s games.

Hector scored the winning penalty in the shoot-out victory over Italy in the quarter-finals, but looks set to stay in the Bundesliga, and is expected to discuss a new deal in the next couple of weeks.

Fellow German Jurgen Klopp is reportedly keen on a new left-back, with fans growing increasingly frustrated at Alberto Moreno’s performances. The Spaniard had a tough game during the UEFA Europa League final, and was blamed by many for the 3-1 defeat to Sevilla.

But the Reds look set to be forced to find a new target, with the 26-year-old seemingly set to stay.

Liverpool kick off their new season away at Arsenal on August 14th.
