Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is set to receive triple his salary in his new proposed five-year contract in order for the club to keep hold of him, Mirror reports.
The 25-year-old was discussing a new deal ever since the summer and based on the Red’s current performance, they would want to secure negotiations sooner rather than later.
This would mean Sturridge would earn about £150,000 a week as he joins a host of top Anfield stars able of commanding such huge wages.
Having scored 36 goals in 46 starts for the Reds, he is seen as a very important member of the squad as Brendan Rodgers admits that he will be working on bringing his star striker back to full fitness.
Rodgers said: “I spoke to Roy today and obviously the agreement will be Daniel will not meet up with England, It’s for both parties really.
“I’m not sure Daniel will be fit for the weekend. At this moment he won’t be in the squad and I am sure Roy will confirm that tomorrow. For Dan now next two weeks a case of getting up to speed to make sure he’s fit to play for us, which is the priority. “
