Liverpool are ready to turn their attention to Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, as Jurgen Klopp looks for a safe pair of hands between the sticks, according to The Mirror.
The Anfield faithful have witnessed inconsistent showings from current number one Simon Mignolet, who has been prone to error this season.
As such, Klopp is thought to be in the market for a new custodian and has identified the Denmark international as the ideal replacement.
Schmeichel has been an unsung hero in the Foxes’ march to the top of the Premier League table, making some telling saves during the King Power Stadium side’s dream campaign to date.
It is believed that Manchester United are also keeping tabs on the 28-year-old.
The report states that Liverpool have made an enquiry for Schmeichel but that Claudio Ranieri’s men will not entertain selling their star during the January window.
As such, the Merseyside outfit may well have to wait until the summer to land their man.
