Liverpool are being linked with a summer move for impressive Bayer Leverkusen star Hakan Calhanoglu, according to Metro.
The Reds are said to have tried to land the Turkish international in his Hamburg days, but the gifted midfielder opted to move to Bundesliga rivals Leverkusen instead last summer.
The 21-year-old has starred at the BayArena since his €14.5 million switch and netted the only goal of the game to give the German side a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League knockout clash.
The report insinuates that Brendan Rodgers has identified the young star as a player to make a move for this summer, with his blend of skill, vision and trickery another potential lethal addition to Liverpool’s attacking ranks.
The Reds already have the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Lazar Markovic and Adam Lallana to play in attacking midfield roles, but Calhanoglu is also versatile enough to play at right wing-back.
However, with four years left on his contract with the Bundesliga club, Leverkusen would surely be reluctant to allow their prize asset to leave.
