Liverpool are preparing to to make an £8million offer to Schalke in order to bring Max Meyer to Anfield, Metro reports.
Over the past few months, scouts have been monitoring the German starlet and with the opening of the transfer window getting closer, a deal could be struck very soon.
Brendan Rodgers believes the sum being offered would be the right amount in the hope that the Bundesliga side can begin negotiations for a possible move.
Schalke want the Reds to pay the full price up front as well as including a clause which will see the side receive a percentage of the next sale should the 18-year-old be sold elsewhere in the future.
Apart from Rodgers, Chelsea were also believed to be monitoring the player earlier in January, but the switch fell through due to the fact Meyer thinks his first team chances will be very limited.
Should he make the swap to England, he needs to be promised a larger role in the squad after impressing in the German top flight last season.
