Liverpool are plotting a move to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Javier Pastore after failing to land new Manchester United signing Memphis Depay, Metro reports.
The 25-year-old has been on manager Brendan Rodgers’ radar for quite some time and is seen as one of the possible candidates to replace departing club captain Steven Gerrard.
Apart from the Reds, Serie A duo, Juventus and Roma, are also hoping they can lure him back to Italy following a two year spell at Palermo before joining the French giants.
Rodgers is attempting to lure a number of world class players into their squad ahead of the new campaign, especially after missing out on a place in the top four this season.
Pastore has been a regular feature for the French outfits this season, already featuring 42 times for the club, scoring seven goals and providing 13 assists.
The Anfield club were hoping to beat rivals United to the signing of Depay earlier this month, but the Dutch winger snubbed a move in favour of joining manager Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.
