Liverpool are once again without striker Luis Suarez has he serves the second of a ten-match suspension. Fabio Borini continues his comeback from a shoulder injury after coming off the bench for score against Newcastle last week meaning there are no fresh injury concerns.

Darron Gibson (hip) is still a doubt for Everton, while Tony Hibbert is back in the fold after recovering from a calf injury.

What the managers said…

“I’ve got no doubt that Daniel and Philippe will relish it. They are young but they have both played in many big games. Philippe has played in derbies in Italy and Daniel played for big clubs before he came here. They are both outstanding players and they have shown that since they came here in January. When you are a top player, you always want to play in the top games and this one of them.” Brendan Rodgers insists his Merseyside derby debutants won’t be fazed (Liverpool Echo)

“For Everton – for the team and the supporters – it will mean an awful lot, but personally, it is not an important thing really. This is a game which gives us a great chance of finishing in Europe. I’m looking forward to trying to get a result for the supporters though. It’s always proved to be a difficult venue for us. We’ve had some half decent results lately, but we need to keep winning to keep in touch with the teams above. We had a really tough run-in. Everyone said that. That was with eight left and now with three we’re just tucked in behind Tottenham, not as close as we’d like to be.” David Moyes admits the Merseyside derby isn’t important to him (Liverpool Echo)

Pre-match Statistic: Everton have won just one of their last 12 Merseyside derbies in the Premier League.
