Jamie Carragher will wear the captains armband in his final match for Liverpool after 16 years at the club. He will stand in for Steven Gerrard after the Reds skipper underwent shoulder surgery. Daniel Agger (back) is missing but Martin Skrtel (illness) is back. Luis Suarez serves the fourth of his 10-match ban.

QPR are without first-choice goalkeeper Julio Cesar once again meaning Robert Green will continue to deputise. Adel Taarabt, Shaun Wright-Phillips and DJ Campbell are all out, while Loic Remy is expected to miss out after being arrested over allegations of rape in midweek.

Brendan Rodgers…“This has been a great learning curve for me this season. I probably needed it this year. I’ve been in football a long time and I came here because of the challenge to get Liverpool back into the top four. It is a monumental challenge but it is the reason I came. I knew it was a big ask but it is not until you come in you really understand the total task of what needs to be achieved.”

Harry Redknapp…“People talk about lack of effort, it’s more down to lack of quality. “In some cases it’s desire but in the main it’s quality. We need changes, for sure. This team weren’t good enough, so we need to make some changes and improve the squad so we’re ready. It’s a big summer for this football club. We know what we need to do. It’s going to be tough for all the teams next year.”

Match Statistic: Since making his debut in the Premier League in February 2011 Liverpool’s win percentage without Luis Suarez (58%) is higher than when he does play (39%).
