Liverpool will have to break footballing record to sign Premier League striker

Liverpool will have to break the record tribunal fee that Man City received from Chelsea when they signed Daniel Sturridge, if the Reds want to bring Danny Ings to Anfield in the summer, that is according to the Sunday Times.

The 22-year-old, who has notched eight goals from 21 appearances in his debut season in England’s top flight, was linked with a cut-price move to Liverpool during the recent closed January transfer window due to the fact his contract expires in the summer.

Brendan Rodgers is looking to add more firepower to his goal-shy strikeforce, with just Swansea City and Stoke City having scored less than the Reds in the top half of the Premier League table, after the failures of Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli during the absence of Daniel Sturridge.

Ings, who has been tipped for an England call-up, rose to fame last season when he notched 21 goals in 40 Championship games.
