Liverpool winger wanted by Italian giants

Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic is being targeted by AS Roma, according to Gazzetta World.

The Serbian spent last season on loan away from Anfield, with then manager Brendan Rodgers sending him to Fenerbahce, where he played in 14 league games but failed to score. His season was forced short after picking up a hamstring with a few months left in the campaign.

Markovic joined in 2014, and after a promising start to his Reds career his performances started to drop, with reports that Rodgers had lost belief in the youngster.

Roma have lost Miralem Panic this summer to Juventus, and are reportedly keen on adding the Liverpool winger to the club this summer, although it isn’t stated whether that will be on a permanent basis or another loan.

Markovic scored 2 goals in his one and only Premier League season with Liverpool, but came to Anfield after an impressive season with Benfica. The 22-year-old scored 5 goals in his last season in Portugal.

Liverpool have added to their attacking options this season, with Sadio Mane coming to Anfield, and already working with Jurgen Klopp in their pre-season tour.
