Liverpool’s Rodgers replacement not available until the summer

Carlo Ancelotti is determined to take 12 months away from the sport, with any hopes Liverpool have of luring him to Anfield put on ice for the moment, according to The Daily Star.

Brendan Rodgers is coming under increasing pressure following a slow start to the new campaign for the Reds, with back-to-back defeats in the Premier League having many questioning whether the Northern Irishman is the trainer to take the club forward.

Talk of the former Swansea City boss losing his position at Anfield is starting to gather pace, with a couple of crucial fixtures over the next fortnight for the Merseyside club.

However, any hope that Liverpool had of replacing Rodgers with Ancelotti has been scuppered, with the former Chelsea man on a sabbatical currently.

The experienced Italian was relieved of his duties at Real Madrid in the summer, despite landing the Spaniards their tenth European Cup the season before.
