Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has added his former Sampdoria colleague Attilio Lombardo to the coaching staff at Eastlands.
The 44-year-old teams up at City with another former Sampdoria team-mate, David Platt, who joined the club as a coach earlier in the summer.
Lombardo had an ill-fated spell as player-manager of Crystal Palace in 1998 but Mancini said of his arrival:"It's great he has joined. He was a top-class player and will bring lots of experience and a winning mentality.
"I know he is excited at being with Manchester City and I know he loves the English game from his time in London."
Lombardo made more than 200 starts for Sampdoria and, since retiring as a player, has worked with young players at the club as well as having a spell as coach of Swiss side FC Chiasso.
