Luka Modric’s ability questioned by Guti

Tottenham Hotspur's Luka ModricFormer Real Madrid star Guti has questioned the ability of the Spanish club’s target Luka Modric, with the midfielder stating that Jose Mourinho’s men should try to sign David Silva instead.

With Tottenham missing out on the Champions League for a second year running, the Croatia international is widely expected to leave White Hart Lane this summer.

Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid are thought to be the frontrunners for the diminutive playmaker, with the Primera Division champions preparing a large offer for the Spurs star.

Despite this, Madrid have also been linked with a move for Manchester City’s attacking midfielder Silva, and Guti feels the Etihad Stadium man would be a better target for Los Blancos.

“He hasn’t even been the key man for Tottenham, I don’t think he’s done enough to play for Real Madrid,” Guti told Spanish press, translated to English by Mirror Football.

“I would go for David Silva in this position. I think he’s the ideal player for Real Madrid.

“He’s young, has bags of talent and potential, and has achieved great things with Manchester City and Spain,” he concluded.
