Macedonia coach Mirsad Jonuz was sacked from his post with the national team on Saturday. The decision was made after Macedonia made a poor start to their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign and was confirmed by a statement by the country’s football federation.
“Following extensive discussions regarding results achieved in qualifying for the 2012 European Championship, a unanimous decision has been reached to remove Mirsad Jonuz from his position as the coach of the national team,” the statement read.
The statement also revealed that they would be on the hunt for a new manager shortly, ahead of their next Euro 2012 qualifier in Russia on September 2.
Macedonia lie second-from-bottom in qualifying Group B, having won just one of a possible six matches.
They have garnered just one point from three home fixtures and successive losses to the Republic of Ireland, both home and away, lead to Jonuz’s dismissal.
