Italian teenager Federico Macheda has signed a new four-year contract extension with Manchester United.
The highly-rated 18-year-old will now remain at Old Trafford until the end of the 2013-14 campaign.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson told the club's official website:"We're delighted by the new four-year deal.
"Everyone at the club recognises the fantastic talent he has and we hope to see that develop in the next years, so he becomes a well-rounded player."
Macheda added: "I am very happy to commit my future to Manchester United. I really enjoyed myself last season when I came on and I hope to get more chances like that and contribute to the team's success."
Macheda joined United from Lazio in September 2007 and made a dramatic introduction to the Premier League when he scored on his debut in the pivotal 3-2 win against Aston Villa in April.
United were forced to come from behind in that Old Trafford clash and the three points went a long way to helping the club clinch their third successive Premier League crown.
He also netted in the 2-1 victory at Sunderland a week after the Villa win and has gone on to feature in ten first-team matches for the club including last week's Champions League defeat to Besiktas and Tuesday's Carling Cup success against Tottenham Hotspur.
