Major blow for West Ham as injury update delivers bad news

New West Ham signing Andre Ayew has been ruled out for up to 4 months with a thigh injury, reports the Metro.

The former Swansea City forward made his Hammers debut in the 2-1 defeat at Chelsea, and was forced off the field after just over half an hour. And whilst manager Slaven Bilic was hoping it would be just a few weeks on the sidelines, it has been discovered Ayew needs surgery on his thigh.

This means it’s extremely unlikely he’ll feature again for West Ham in 2016, all after securing his £20million switch to London from the Welsh club.

Aye only made his Premier League debut 12 months ago, where he went on to be Swansea’s top scorer for the season with 12 league goals. It was the second season he netted double figures, after scoring 10 Ligue 1 goals for Marseille before moving to England.

But now the Ghanian will be sat on the sidelines, just when West Ham had thought they had fixed their strike problems.
