Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur need to pay £20million to sign Southampton star Jay Rodriguez, according to reports from Manchester Evening News.
The 25-year-old has been out of action ever since damaging his cruciate knee ligament towards the end of the previous campaign.
City have named the England international as one of their summer targets as they aim to reinforce the squad with a number of home grown players.
They are also considering moves for Everton’s Ross Barkley as well as Liverpool contract rebel Raheem Sterling ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Tottenham are another side closely monitoring his situation, as former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen on being reunited with the forward at White Hart Lane.
Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is said to still be interested in the services of Rodriguez and will be keeping a close eye on his recovery while trying to ensure he remains at the St Mary’s.
