Manchester City have been dealt a huge blow in their efforts to sign Kevin De Bruyne after revealing his intentions of remaining with Wolfsburg, according to reports from the Mirror.
The 24-year-old was heavily linked with a mega move this summer after impressing for the Bundesliga club since his arrival from Chelsea back in 2014.
It is believed that City have made an offer worth around the £50million region for his services, but saw their advances rejected with the winger now confirming his decision to stay.
“I will definitely play this season at Wolfsburg,” he said
Despite being unable to hold down a regular role at Stamford Bridge, De Bruyne was in sensational form last term, scoring 16 goals and providing another 28 assists from a total of 51 appearances in all competitions.
With a move for the Belgium international now looking unlikely, City boss Manuel Pellegrini has now turned his attentions to sign Manchester United defensive target Nicolas Otamendi.
There have also been links that if Pellegrini was unable to sign De Bruyne, he would try to sign Barcelona forward Pedro, another player linked with the Red Devils.
