Man City blow as attacking star ruled out for 10 weeks

Manchester City have been hit with a huge injury blow with star attacker Kevin De Bruyne ruled out for up to 10 weeks.

The 24-year-old was forced off on a stretcher during the 3-1 Capital One Cup semi-final second leg victory over Everton.

He managed to register a vital goal in the fixture before going down with a knee problem late on, and a number of sources claimed that the Belgium international was set to miss about six weeks of football in the aftermath of the incident.

However, the midfielder revealed via his Twitter account that he is unlikely to feature for up to 10 weeks as he thanked the fans for their support.

“Just got back from the specialist. I’ll be out for around 10 weeks,” he revealed on Twitter.

“I’ll work hard on my recovery and hope to be back on the pitch asap. Thank you all for the supportive messages!”

The injury happened after a tackle from Toffees defender Ramiro Funes Mori, and manager Manuel Pellegrini earlier admitted that he is confident De Bruyne can return before the end of the campaign.

He has been an important performer for City this term, so far featuring in 19 Premier League games, scoring five goals while providing another nine assists.
