Man City boss desperate to keep pace

Manuel Pellegrini's inexperience

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is revelling in the form of his title rivals after an impressive away win at West Ham.

City scored three fine goals on a ground where points were hard to come by for away teams last season and the Chilean will now take his team to Moscow for a crucial Champions League clash with CSKA.

The ever influential David Silva wrapped up the points for the Blues who moved back into the top four with their first away win of the season after disappointing results at the likes of Cardiff and Aston Villa.

Pellegrini knew today that his title rivals in Arsenal and Chelsea had already won convincingly so the pressure only spurred his team on.

“Getting three points today was the most important thing for us. I think the team played very, very well and we scored three great goals,” Pellegrini told the club’s official website.

“We knew before we started the game that Chelsea and Arsenal had won their games, so it was very important for us to do the same as we must be a maximum of three points behind the leaders after today.

“We will try the next time we play away, against Chelsea, to recover the points we lost at the beginning of the Premier League.”
