Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini believes that it will be difficult for his side to catch Chelsea in the English title race, Express reports.
City were knocked out of the Champions League by Barcelona on Wednesday via an aggregate 3-1 score-line, leaving the Premier League as the only trophy left to play for.
However, Pellegrini’s men are trailing the Blues by six points, and that gap could be stretched even further if Chelsea manage to win their game in hand.
With just nine games left in the Premier League calendar, the Chilean boss knows that his side must go on an incredible run to have any shot at retaining their title.
Speaking after their game against Barca, he said: “It’s difficult because we are six points behind but we have nine games to play.
“We have to now focus on the Premier League. We’ll see what happens but I hope we will recover.”
Pellegrini has been under a lot of pressure recently amid speculation over his long-term future at the Etihad, and anything other than City winning the Premier League could see the 61-year-old face the sack this summer.
