Manchester City are considering a move for Aston Villa star Fabian Delph as an alternative to £60million Manchester United target Paul Pogba, according to reports from the Express.
The 25-year-old only recently penned a new four-and-a-half year deal with his club back in January and is currently regarded as a key member of the squad.
His new contract will mean that Villa will not be forced to sell him during the upcoming window, but may keep their options open should City table an offer.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini is also hoping to lure £60million-rated Pogba to the Eithad, but with almost every European giant after his signature, they may miss out.
Pellegrini needs to sign more English players ahead of the new campaign in order to meet the required home-grown quota, a factor that could see the England international complete a switch.
