Manchester City and Manchester United are set to go head-to-head in the battle to sign Anderlecht starlet Youri Tielemans, according to reports from the Daily Star.
Tielemans has been heavily linked with a move away from Anderlecht in recent weeks, with the likes of Chelsea also keen on his services.
United have been monitoring his progress the past year, however they have now been joined by rival neighbours City in the chase for his signature.
The current Premier League leaders may have a slight advantage in luring him over to the Blue side of Manchester, with City having two of Belgium’s biggest stars in Vincent Kompany and Kevin de Bruyne.
This will come as a major blow to United, with manager Louis van Gaal seeing 18-year-old Tielemans as the perfect candidate for the young team he is reportedly building for his successor.
Tielemans made 51 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring eight goals.
