Man City keep tabs on Uruguayan as Champions League hopes look slim

Manchester City are monitoring the progress of Napoli in Serie A, and will make a move to sign striker Edinson Cavani if the club fail to qualify for the Champions League, according to The Daily Mail.

Walter Mazzarri’s men are currently in fifth place in the Italian top flight with one game to play, and are three points adrift of third place – the last available place in Europe’s top club competition.

The Uruguay international is one of the continent’s most lethal marksmen, and has impressed in hitting the back of the net consistently in Serie A and this term in the Champions League also.

With Edin Dzeko thought to be in line to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer, Cavani has ben earmarked as a potential replacement, but would not come cheap.
