Udinese’s flamboyant Chilean winger, Alexis Sanchez, is on the hit list of a number of elite European clubs, among whom are Manchester United, Chelsea and Inter Milan.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Manchester City have emerged as the front runner for the 22 year old hotshot, after they held positive talks with Sanchez’s people over the weekend.
Udinese are likely to fetch up to £44 million for their prized asset and Manchester City have already shown the football world they don’t need a second invitation to flaunt their cheque book. Sanchez would be the second most expensive player in Premiership history, with only the £50 million Chelsea paid for Fernando Torres being higher.
If Sanchez is to make the move to Eastlands, it’s likely to be the end of the road for Italian bad boy Mario Balotelli. The temperamental striker has been linked with a return to Italy with AC Milan. It’s rumoured that any potential deal for Balotelli could see Dutch veteran Clarence Seedorf moving in the opposite direction.
If City do win the race for the highly rated Sanchez and he reproduces the quality he displayed in South Africa last year the Premier League is in for a treat.
