Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has warned league leaders Chelsea to watch their backs in the race for the title, Daily Star reports.
The Citizens were rampant against Southampton last night, winning 3-0 and cutting the lead at the top of the table down to just six points.
Yaya Toure, Frank Lampard, and Gael Clichy all scored to seal a victory at the Saint Mary’s, and Pellegrini is informing Blues boss Jose Mourinho that City will not hand their champions tag away that easily.
“We have to play 25 games more,” said Pellegrini.
“It’s a lot of points. No one knows what happens in the future.
“In one week, you can change things. Chelsea are playing very well. Let’s see what happens in the future. We just have to work on us.
“I think we can complain about a lot of things in this team during this year, conceding too many goals and not scoring as many as last season.
“But the only thing we cannot complain about is the spirit, the personality and the ambition of this squad.”
Chelsea only managed to draw 0-0 at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland, opening the door for City to make ground on the Blues.
