Man City managerial target tipped for move after halt in contract talks

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is now under pressure with speculation that Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is ready to replace him at the Etihad, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The 44-year-old manager has put contract talks on hold, despite being offered a deal which will secure his stay up until the year 2022.

It is now believed that Simeone is eyeing a move to replace Pellegrini at the City helm, with the Premier League champions struggling as of late.

City were dealt a huge blow to their title chances last weekend, dropping points in the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool, and could also see their Champions League dreams shattered.

The Citizens face Barcelona at the Nou Camp in the second leg, and are in for a tough task overturning a 2-1 deficit.

The Argentine manager is one of the three names linked with the managerial role at City, with Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti and Bayern Munich’s Pep Guardiola the two other candidates for the job.
