Man City signing turned down move to La Liga champions

New Manchester City signing Nolito has revealed he turned down an offer from Barcelona, reports the Guardian.

The La Liga champions were keen on re-signing Nolito, after spending just the one year at the Camp Nou. The Spaniard rejected a professional contact at Barca, joining Benfica instead before eventually moving to Celta Vigo.

And once again the 29-year-old has rejected the Catalan club, sighting the opportunity to play under Pep Guardiola too good of an opportunity to miss:

“The truth is I enjoyed working with him in Barcelona even though it wasn’t much time. It’s a reason for me to come here but not the only one.” Said Nolito.

He joins fellow senior squad Spaniards Jesus Navas and David Silva, as Guardiola sets about his first season managing the Citizens. He’s cost City £14million, and has confirmed he is eager to learn English to better help him settle at the Etihad.

Nolito wasn’t in the squad of the former Barca and Bayern Munich Boss’ first game in charge, losing a friendly to his old side 1-0.

His first Premier League appearance could be at home to Sunderland on August 13th.
