Manchester City midfielder David Silva has stated that he enjoys playing at Old Trafford and will be looking to replicate his side’s 6-1 thumping of bitter rivals Manchester United in the clash later today.
The Citizens made quite the statement of intent with a 6-1 humbling of the Red Devils in 2011, in one of the club’s most famous days in recent memory.
The teams meet again today at Old Trafford with the hosts on form and favourites, while Silva and his men have been subject to questionable results.
Ahead of the clash, the Spaniard has stated that he enjoys playing at the home of his side’s enemies and wants to continue his good personal record against United today.
“I enjoy playing at Old Trafford because we have played very well there and won more often than not since I have been at City,” The Daily Star quote the former Valencia playmaker as saying.
“One of the best memories I have was the 6-1 win at Old Trafford in 2011. But results like that don’t come along very often.
“It was an incredible day when everything we tried came off and I know it’s a game our fans enjoyed because they still sing about it.”
City are currently a point behind United on the Premier League table, and with their title ambitions now over must concentrate on finishing in the top four.
Silva has been a rare bright spark for the defending champions this season, who look set for a summer of upheaval.
