Manchester City have suffered a double injury blow to Raheem Sterling and Joe Hart as the pair are expected to miss both Champions League clashes against Paris Saint-Germain, Skysports reports.
The two players started in the 1-0 defeat to city rivals Manchester United yesterday, but were both forced off after picking up knocks.
Sterling suffered a groin problem in the first half, while Hart injured a calf muscle, with manager Manuel Pellegrini revealing that the pair are expected to be out for at least a month.
“Muscle injuries are never less than a month,” he said.
“I don’t think you can recover from a muscle injury in one week, normally it takes three or four weeks so I don’t think they can play.”
This means the two players will be unable to represent the England national team for upcoming friendlies against Germany and the Netherlands.
They are also unlikely to return in time for both the home and away Champions League tie against PSG next month, an outcome that would be seen as a huge blow for Pellegrini.
Apart from the European matchup, the pair could also miss vital Premier League matches against West Bromwich Albion, Chelsea, and Newcastle United.
