Manchester City star Nicolas Otamendi has revealed that he believes his side can beat their Premier League rivals to the title this season, Daily Mail reports.
The 27-year-old arrived from Valencia during the summer and was also heavily linked with a move to join city rivals Manchester United.
City are currently top of the league due to goal difference as they are tied on 26 points with Arsenal following the latest round of fixtures.
Both clubs only managed to pick up a point each at the weekend, with the Gunners drawing Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 while City’s match against Aston Villa ended goalless.
Otamendi admitted that with his team being seen as favourites, everyone is ready to handle the pressure as they target another league title.
“It’s not easy to be in the position that we are in at the moment because everyone looks at you as the principle candidate for winning the title, and there is a long way to go yet,” he said.
“Anyway, we are a strong-minded team and we know how to handle that pressure.”
Manager Manuel Pellegrini will have to be well prepared when the international break ends as his side will face Liverpool on November 21 before travelling to play Juventus in the Champions League four days later.
