Manchester City are closing in on a contract extension for Sergio Aguero that would keep him at the club until 2020, according to The Sun.
The Argentina international is widely acknowledged as one of the most prolific strikers in the world game and is a critical member of Manuel Pellegrini’s squad.
City are clearly a much more potent side when the former Atletico Madrid man is in the team and the Premier League outfit are keen to secure his long-term future.
The report suggests that Aguero is eager to renew terms with the English side and will put pen to paper on a £250,000 per week deal.
Speculation linking Aguero with a move to Real Madrid has intermittently been doing the rounds in the European press, with any new contract pouring cold water on these suggestions.
The South American is set to feature for City in the Capital One Cup final later today against Liverpool.
