Wigan boss Malky Mackay confirmed on Friday that Hull had inquired about the availability of McManaman – who is also being pursued by West Bromwich Albion, who have had offers of £3.5m and £4m rejected by the Championship club.
Hull boss Steve Bruce is currently in Portugal with his squad for a warm-weather training camp, and the Hully Daily Mail believe he is keeping his eye on McManaman’s availability should Wigan agree to sell for less than the £5m asking price before the January transfer window closes.
Twenty-three year-old McManaman first broke into the Wigan team during the 2012/13 season under then-Latics boss Roberto Martinez, winning the FA Cup. This season he has made a total of five appearances, scoring four goals as Wigan struggle in the relegation zone of the Championship.
