Man oh man: Hull City priced out of move for Championship ace

Hull City are interested in signing Wigan Athletic midfielder Callum McManaman according to the Hull Daily Mail, but have baulked at the Latics’ £5m asking price for the player.

Wigan boss Malky Mackay confirmed on Friday that Hull had inquired about the availability of McManaman – who is also being pursued by West Bromwich Albion, who have had offers of £3.5m and £4m rejected by the Championship club.

Hull boss Steve Bruce is currently in Portugal with his squad for a warm-weather training camp, and the Hully Daily Mail believe he is keeping his eye on McManaman’s availability should Wigan agree to sell for less than the £5m asking price before the January transfer window closes.

Twenty-three year-old McManaman first broke into the Wigan team during the 2012/13 season under then-Latics boss Roberto Martinez, winning the FA Cup. This season he has made a total of five appearances, scoring four goals as Wigan struggle in the relegation zone of the Championship.
