Manchester United are believed to have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to complete the signing of top Arsenal target Ilkay Gundogan, Metro reports.
The 24-year-old was being tracked by the two clubs ever since the summer, and with club manager Jurgen Klopp announcing his departure, he is likely to follow suit.
It is now said that United have agreed to pay a fee of £21.5million to complete the transfer of the Germany international.
This will be seen as a blow to the Gunners, as manager Arsene Wenger was in the market for another world class central midfielder to compete with Francis Coquelin.
Gundogan is being tipped to sign a contract to confirm his switch from the Bundesliga outfits to the Red Devils as Van Gaal begins planning for the upcoming campaign.
Liverpool’s loss to Hull City in midweek has put United in pole position to finish in the top four and reach their objective of featuring in next season’s Champions League.
