Man United alerted as Valencia join race for top managerial candidate

Manchester United have been alerted amid speculation that Valencia are ready to lure top managerial candidate Jose Mourinho to Spain, The Sun reports.

The former Chelsea boss is heavily being tipped to take over from United manager Louis van Gaal at the end of the season after dropping to sixth on the Premier League table.

Valencia recently sacked Gary Neville after only four months in charge as he was unable to guide the team out of their slump, with assistant Pako Ayestaran serving as the interim boss.

Despite Mourinho believed to have already reached a verbal agreement with the Red Devils over his potential appointment, the La Liga outfits are still keen on acquiring his services.

Valencia already tried to bring Mourinho to the Mestalla back in February when the Portuguese manager met with club owner Peter Lim to discuss a potential deal.

He is said to be prepared to pay the former Real Madrid boss £15million-a-year, while giving him access to £100million worth of transfer funds.
