Manchester United and Barcelona have joined the race to sign Rennes sensation Ousmane Dembele, Daily Mail reports.
Red Devils scouts were present during Rennes’ Ligue-1 match against Lyon on Sunday, but they weren’t the only ones now monitoring the heavily coveted 18-year-old.
Representatives from Arsenal, West Ham, Southampton, Stoke City, and Bayern Munich were also attending the game, while European Champions Barca have reportedly already had a £27million offer for Dembele turned down.
He is, at the moment, being considered as one of the best youngsters to come out of the French top flight in recent years, scoring an impressive nine goals in his debut season.
And during the weekend, the aforementioned scouts witnessed the attacker set up a goal during the 2-2 draw, and France manager Didier Deschamps has admitted he is also watching his development.
He said: “People have talked about him to me for two years. We’ll say that he should be left in peace. Before his hat-trick [against Nantes], he did other things. He’s quick, he has two feet, he can play in three positions in attack, and he’s only going to improve.
“It is too early? It all depends on the competition, but obviously I’m watching him.”
Dembele has made 21 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring nine goals and supplying an additional four assists.
