Manchester United and Manchester City are set to battle it out for the signature of AC Milan star Adil Rami, Express reports.
The centre-back could be set to make a move away from the San Siro, despite being a big part of Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi’s plans.
Rami moved to Milan from Valencia at the beginning of the year in the hopes of regaining a place in the French national setup, but has yet to be called up since his switch.
And reports suggest that the 28-year-old is considering a move to the Premier League to boost his chances of making Didier Deschamps side ahead of the European championship in 2016.
This will have alerted the Manchester clubs, with Louis van Gaal and Manuel Pellegrini both keen on signing a centre-back.
United are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements to shore up their back-line due to their ever-growing injury list, and at £10million Rami is a considerably cheaper purchase than their summer acquisitions.
City meanwhile are looking at Rami to partner Vincent Kompany as Pellegrini’s £32million capture of Eliaquim Mangala is yet to pay off.
