Manchester United and Liverpool looks to have been dealt a massive blow in their chase for Xherdan Shaqiri after is was revealed that the Bayern Munich man has been holding talks with Juventus, Express reports.
The 23-year-old is constantly being overlooked by manager Pep Guardiola and is likely to force an exit in January in order to be given a bigger playing role elsewhere.
Both Brendan Rodgers and Louis van Gaal is said to be interested in bringing him to their respective clubs given his plea for first team football, but is likely to face competition from the Serie A giants.
The Italian side has been in contact with Shaqiri’s representatives and is already planning a possible £16million switch from Germany as he could be deployed as the main attacking midfielder for Massimo Allegri.
Despite this, both the Reds as well as United will be prepared to equal any potential offer laid forth by the current Serie A champions.
