Man United and Man City target pens new La Liga deal

Manchester United and Manchester City has been hit with a transfer setback, after Sergio Busquets agreed a deal to extend his stay at Barcelona, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The 26-year-old was one of the potential names City boss Manuel Pellegrini has been monitoring to replace star midfielder Yaya Toure, who is reportedly considering an exit.

Louis van Gaal was also keen on luring Busquets to Old Trafford with his side struggling during the weekend, losing 2-1 to Swansea.

However, the two Manchester clubs are likely to miss out on the services of the Spain international, after spokesperson from Barca confirmed that a new deal was ready to be signed.

“The contract will be signed on Friday lunchtime in the club offices at the Camp Nou,” he said.

Having joined the Catalan club back in 2008, he is now set to sign a contract that will keep him at the Camp Nou for an additional four years, with an option to add another 12 months to his deal.
