Manchester United assistant manager Ryan Giggs did not attend the club’s 3-0 win over Stoke City due to a family illness, according to reports from the Mirror.
Giggs was missing on the United bench where he normally sits next to manager Louis van Gaal, and the Welshman will regret the absence as the Red Devils produced one of their best displays of the campaign.
United went into the lead early through Jesse Lingard, before Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney sealed all three points in an emphatic victory.
And it has now been revealed that Giggs did not attend the game because he was given leave to take care of a family illness, having nothing to do with the former winger being the favourite to take over from under-fire boss Van Gaal or leaving to Celtic.
The result pushed Man United to be just five points away from fourth place Arsenal, with the 13-time Premier League champions aiming to once again finish in the top four to qualify for the Champions League.
