Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has given his latest update on club’s injured players, with Ander Herrera and Adnan Januzaj returning to training, Express reports.
The Red Devils will face Stoke City at the Britannia on New Year’s Day, and have been boosted with the return to fitness of the midfield duo.
However Van Gaal has revealed that he isn’t confident that Herrera or Januzaj will recover in time for the clash, citing that they are not yet up to match fitness.
“Herrera has trained today for the first time with us and Januzaj has also trained two training sessions with us,” Van Gaal said.
“They don’t have match rhythm. Januzaj was ill and you have to recover from your illness, not from your tiredness. Maybe it’s worse to recover from illness.”
United are currently third on the Premier League table after winning seven of their last nine games, 10 points off first place Chelsea.
