Manchester United have been boosted in their chase to sign Leroy Sane from Schalke after Arsenal looks to have pulled out of the race, The Sun reports.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is said to have turned his attentions elsewhere as he is not prepared to pay the required amount in order to move forward with his transfer.
His club were expected to have warded away potential suitors by agreeing a four-year deal with the winger last summer, but may have to persuade him to stay once again.
Barca sporting director Robert Fernandez went to monitor the player last week, with Schalke boss Andre Breitenreiter confirming heavy interest in the Germany international.
“The buzz surrounding the boy is brutal and I’ve used every opportunity to be vigilant,” he said.
“Leroy is a cool guy and the way he has dealt with it has been remarkable. But it won’t go by him without a trace.”
Sane has already featured 29 times in all competitions for his side this term, so far managing to score six goals while providing another five assists.
