Manchester United star David De Gea has come out to reveal his desire to remain at Old Trafford despite heavy interest from Real Madrid, Express reports.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper was very close to completing a move to the Spanish giants during the summer, but his transfer broke down on deadline day.
Following the closing of the previous window, De Gea eventually penned a new four-year deal with the club, but is still being monitored by Real.
However, the Spain international has now admitted that he is ready to remain at United in order to become the best goalkeeper in the world.
“I’m happy, I’m enjoying it and I believe in the team,” he told Skysports.
“I train every day to be the best goalkeeper in the world, that is my aim.
“I’m not sure who the best is now, but it’s what I want.
“Also, to win trophies for Manchester United.”
The keeper was once again on top form during their recent 1-0 victory over rivals Liverpool at Anfield as they look to keep up with the top four.
They are currently sitting fifth on the Premier League table, two points away from Tottenham Hotspur in fourth place.
The La Liga side are being tipped to table a mega bid at the end of the current campaign, but could be denied the chance after being hit with a transfer embargo.
