Manchester United have been alerted by speculation that Bayer Leverkusen could sanction the sale of midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, according to Fichajes, as reported by the Metro.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford in recent months as he is also being tracked by La Liga giants Barcelona.
Leverkusen chief Michael Schade recently admitted that he is looking to develop young talent and then sell them at a high price, a revelation that could appeal to United boss Louis van Gaal.
“We try to find talent as soon as possible, then encourage their development and then sell them for a high price,” he said.
“If one day we can create a world star or first class player and one day he wants to play in one of the best clubs in the world, of course we would sell.”
It is now believed that a number of offers for Calhanoglu could be tabled heading into the January window.
The Turkey international has so far featured in 14 league matches and another five Champions League fixtures, scoring four goals while providing another five assists.
Van Gaal will surely be looking to add another attacker into his squad following a number of unconvincing displays in recent months.
However, even though the Red Devils have been struggling to find the back of the net on multiple occasions, they are still sitting third on the Premier League table.
