Manchester United have been boosted in their chase for Real Madrid star Raphael Varane after he is believed to be interested in a transfer, Le10Sport reports.
The 22-year-old has emerged as a top defensive target for United amid speculation that former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is set to replace current manager Louis van Gaal in the summer.
Should the Portuguese take the reins at Old Trafford, he is expected to overhaul the squad and is said to be keen on reinforcing the centre-back position.
Varane has been left frustrated by his lack of playing time given that he is behind Pepe and Sergio Ramos in the defensive pecking order.
The France international would surely be given a first team role if he decides to leave the Bernabeu for the Premier League having already worked with Mourinho during his time in Spain.
He has only started 18 out of a possible 30 La Liga matches so far this term, while managing to feature another three times as a substitute.
